Bill Monning believes it's wrong to cut funding in education, especially when our schools are already struggling to retain teachers and keep small class sizes.

As an educator at the Monterey Institute for International Studies and as a community volunteer, Monning used his expertise in conflict resolution to develop a groundbreaking program aimed at violence prevention in public schools.

3. The Environment is Central

As co-founder of the Pesticide Coalition of Monterey County, Bill used his experience as an attorney and an expert in mediation to build a consensus on the harmful impact of some of the most toxic pesticides that were poisoning farm workers and neighborhoods. He fought the chemical companies and persuaded farmworkers, growers, and health authorities to push the state legislature to ban the worst chemicals, and to require warning signs in the fields when any pesticides are used.

Bill has been endorsed by the Sierra Club and the California League of Conservation Voters because of his long record defending the environment.
